On 12-13 September 2013, the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD) held the 10th International Conference “Meeting Market Challenges”. The event was organized by National Settlement Depository (NSD), Russian central securities depository, in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
Within the Conference at the Annual General Meeting of the AECSD members which summed up the results for 2012, elected the governing bodies and discussed aspects of further development of the AECSD as well as summed up the results of 2012. Among the most important results of the previous year were:
In accordance with the resolution of the General Meeting, Fariz Nazim Azizov, Chairman of the Board, Azerbaijan’s National Depository Centre, was elected the Chairman of the AECSD. In 2014, the Association will hold its 11th Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event will be organized by Azerbaijan’s National Depository Centre (NDC). The delegates selected Chisinau, Moldova, for holding the 12th AECSD Conference.

Chairman of the Executive Board, NSD, said: "After considering issues
arising from the further development of the AECSD, the members of the
Association have decided to expand communications and discuss topical
directions of CSD development not just with the AECSD members but also with
intermediaries (custodians, broker companies) and investors conducting
operations in our markets. We have also agreed to develop standards for the
AECSD member CSDs-of; these standards will be advisory.”
More than 50 delegates took part in the Conference.
The Conference participants discussed the role and tasks of the AECSD as an integration floor for the financial infrastructure of the CIS countries. They considered issues of settlements between market participants, securities safekeeping and asset protection, record keeping affecting local and international investors’ rights, issues of eligibility. Among other points of discussion were aspects of corporate actions, information disclosure, taxation and income repatriation as well as other important topics.
